Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are tumors that develop in the uterus that cause abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain and pressure, urinary and intestinal symptoms, and complications in pregnancy.
Symptoms of fibroids
Most of the fibroids even when they are very large produce no symptoms. They are usually detected during diagnostic scans and are mostly curable. Surgical treatment remains the main treatment option for fibroids. Although fibroids have no specific symptoms, one should know when to consult the doctor. Some of the symptoms of fibroids are:-
- Heavy or prolonged menstrual periods
- Abnormal bleeding between menstrual periods
- Pelvic pain (caused as the tumor presses on pelvic organs)
- Frequent urination
- Low back pain
